- The best method for a semi regional survey of an area like the Finnlifjellet property appear to be geochemical scree sampling combined with a visual reconnaissance and bedrock/floater sampling. The scree sampling density has been around 3/km2 with concentration along both sides of Kallklavdalen. The assay results show generally low contrasts, but with a good correlation between gold and arsenic and a distinct geographical concentration of the Au-As anomalous samples. These concentrations found in the central and western part of the claim block confirm the occurrences of known mineralizations according to old records and the recent re-examination of these by NGU. The base metals, Cu, Pb and Zn, show no correlation with Au-As and only weak internal correlation and geographical concentration. The elements Ag, Mo and Bi generally assayed below their DLs. This assessment of the scree results includes 10 samples collected in the vicinity of Kolsvik. One sample from near the B horizon gave a weak As-Au anomaly, while the other samples from the upper part of Bogadalen do not indicate an extension of Kolsvik mineralization to the south. Still higher up, however, to the south-west of Okstind, Ihlen has recorded an other cluster of As-Au mineralizations. Future surveys for the Kolsvik type of mineralization may, based on our results, restrict the assay programs to gold and arsenic. This was generally confirmed also by NGU's sampling of the mineralised shear zones. The descriptions and asay results from NGU's examination of 16 mineralizations in 1994 show: - 1) high values of gold and arsenic with little support from other elements, except occasionally high Pb, Bi and Ag, - 2) strong association with granitic host rocks, and 3) a preference for shears with east-west or east northeast - westsouthwest strike directions, see Table 2. This suggest a strong correlation with the Kolsvik deposit as described by Ihlen in report 93003.
